Faux Stained Glass Mandala Patterns

Teens and younger kids too will love these Faux Stained Glass Mandala Patterns.  This easy method for turning ordinary paper into translucent parchment style designs with simple vegetable oil will change coloring pages like these mandalas into beautiful sun catchers.  You can use our patterns or take a coloring page that is printed on one side and use the same technique. You can also print a stained glass pattern for more advanced designs. Just have fun.

Trivia: Mandalas can be created by one or more people to symbolize their journey through life. They can also tell a story of where an individual has been and serve as a symbol to aid in meditation. Source: Spiritual Awakening – Mandalas, What Are They?

  1. Select and print your pattern

  3. Pour a generous amount of vegetable oil on a cotton ball and rub on the back of the picture. Continue until the paper turns translucent and let dry.
  4. We chose to cut our mandala out but you can decide to do that or not. If you don’t cut it out you might want to frame it with a thin colored tape before hanging in the window with tape.
