Trivia:
Liquids that pour and behave like water, oil and alcohol, for example, are called Newtonian fluids. Some liquids, however, do not obey Newton’s model of viscosity, because their viscosity can be affected by factors other than temperature. These fluids are termed non-Newtonian fluids. Supplies
- 1 cup of clear Elmer’s glue
- 5 – 7 tablespoons of liquid starch
- Food Coloring or Slime Coloring *(this tends become lighter when it dries)*
- Latex or Rubber Gloves
- Disposable Bowl
Instructions
- Put on your rubber gloves to avoid staining your hands.
- Mix glue and coloring in a disposable bowl.
- Add starch, two tablespoons at a time. Mix
- Begin kneading when slime is slightly sticky. Don’t give up! It takes several minutes for the slime to firm.
More starch will make it thicker and better for sculpting. It will dry out in a day. less starch will make it thinner and more fun to play with. Store in an air tight container or a plastic zippered bag.
Tips: If the dye gets on your hands, a vinegar and salt scrub will get a lot of it off, but we suggest rubber gloves when using concentrated coloring.
