Crayon Valentine Window Hanger
Here’s another project for kids to make using up those old bits and pieces of crayon. This window hanger adds a bit of color on a dreary day and the kids will love seeing their handiwork on display.
Trivia: A crayon (or wax pastel) is a stick of colored wax, charcoal, chalk or other material. A crayon made of oiled chalk is called an oil pastel; when made of pigment with a dry binder, it is simply a pastel. A grease pencil or china marker (UK chinagraph pencil) is made of colored hardened grease. There are also watercolor crayons, sometimes called watersoluble crayons.
Supplies
Wax Paper
Red and Pink Crayon bits
Iron
Scissors
Fishing Wire
Optional:
Trim
Tacky Glue
Instructions
For this Crayon Valentine Window Hanger you need to start by clicking on Printables and print out heart pattern or create your own.
Place a piece of wax paper over heart pattern. Sprinkle crayon shavings (sparingly!) on wax paper following the design on the download.
Place another piece of wax paper on top of shavings and a blank sheet of paper or a cloth over that. Gently press down with a warm iron. Crayon will melt quickly.
Staple wax paper outside of the design area and under the waxed paper and cut out.
We decided to dress ours up with a little gold trim.
Punch a hole in the top of the heart and thread fishing line through to enable it to be hung in the window.
