A Cardboard tube butterfly craft is an old standby when it come to recycling toilet paper rolls or hand towel rolls. It is an inexpensive and easy craft for younger children to enjoy while recycling materials that otherwise head straight for the garbage pile. This craft can easily be used as a group project or just a single child and a cardboard tube butterfly craft is a great way to remember a trip to a nature preserve.

Supplies
  • Small Cardboard Tube
  • Craft Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Black Marker
  • Colored Construction Paper’
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper
  • Glue Stick
Instructions
  • Spread newspaper to protect your work surface.
  • Paint the cardboard tube, let dry
  • Select one of the patterns below and print on colored construction paper and cut out. You can print on two different color papers and cut out the decorations on one.
  • Using the picture as a reference draw a face on the cardboard tube
  • Using the glue stick, rub a line of glue down the middle of the wings and attach the cardboard to it with the face pointing out.
  • Glue antenna inside the tube
