Despite a new religious focus, people in Old England and Ireland continued to associate the time with the wandering dead. They set out gifts of foods to please the spirits, and as time wore on, people would dress in scary costumes in exchange for treats themselves — a practice called “mumming,” which is similar to today’s trick-or-treating. Supplies
  • Ghost Pattern
  • Tissue Paper: Black and White
  • Scissors
  • White Glue
  • Black Pipe Cleaner or Ribbon
Instructions
  1. Print the Ghost pattern below.
  2. Cut out the outline.
  3.  Cut tissue paper into 2″ pieces and crumple into a tight ball.
  4. Dip ball in white glue and place on pattern.
  5. Twist pipe cleaner or ribbon to make a loop and glue to the back of the ghost.

You can also make a Tissue Paper Black Cat to add to your Halloween decorations.
