Make A Native American Bowl
As the kids study the history of our country and it’s original inhabitants, show them how to Make A Native American Bowl. Native Americans were self sufficient and had a history of creating items that were beautiful as well as useful.
Trivia:
The earliest Native Americans to cultivate corn were the Pueblo people of the American southwest, whose culture was transformed by the arrival of corn in 1,200 B.C. Supplies
- 36″ Jute.
- Bowl Pattern
- Brown Card Stock
- Turquoise Beads
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- Tacky Glue
Instructions
- Stiffen the end of the jute with white glue.
- Print the bowl on brown card stock. Cut out bowl and down the solid lines inside the bowl. Dotted lines are for a guide. Do not cut on these.
- Punch holes as shown on pattern.
- Overlap each cut to meet the dotted line next to it and glue in place.
- Lace jute through one hole pulling all the way through leaving 2″ to tie off. Lace around top edge of bowl using a whip stitch. Add a bead at every other hole. Tie off. Trim.
