Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
This Earth Day classroom activity works well as both an art project and a discussion starter.
Ask children to share one way they can help the Earth at home or at school. Ideas might include turning off lights, recycling paper, picking up litter, or saving water.
You can also turn this into a writing activity by having each child finish a sentence such as “I can help the Earth by…” and attach it to their helping hand. This makes a wonderful Earth Day bulletin board and gives children a chance to connect the craft to real everyday actions.
