Handprint Crab Craft
All the kids love to paint their hand and turn them into something else. This colorful Handprint Crab is our latest addition to this fun craft project. You might like to add the Florida Blue Crab Handprint to the mix.
Trivia
Crabs usually have a distinct sideways walk. However, some crabs can walk forwards or backwards, and some are capable of swimming. The collective name for the group of crabs is a cast. Source: Science Kids – Fun Crab Facts for Kids
Supplies
- Newspaper
- Red paint
- Black marker
- Your hands
- Yellow Construction Paper
- Paper Plates
- Roller (optional)
Instructions
- Put down newspaper to protect your work surface.
- Make sure the kids are wearing old clothes or a paint smock.
- Print out as many beach scenes as you need or have the kids create their own.
- Pour a small amount of paint on the paper plate and have the kids cover one hand with red paint. Using a roller distributes the paint in a less messy manner,
- Using the picture as a reference, place the first hand with the thumb up on the paper; pressing firmly.
- Then repeat the process with the other hand, making sure the palms of the hands overlap.
- After your handprints have dried, use the black marker to draw on eyes and a smile.

Instructions
Click on Printables and print out the beach themed background or create your own.
Spread newspaper under your work surface for protection.
Put paint on a paper plate and have the children put their hands in palm down.
Using the picture as a reference place the hands to form a crab.
When the paint is dry, add eyes and a mouth.
