Recycled Grocery Bag Vest Craft

What kid wouldn’t enjoy making and dressing up in this Recycled Grocery Bag Vest and acting out their favorite role. Decorate this easy to make vest for a western sheriff, or frilly girly fun or maybe even a knight and let the games begin! Now that paper bags are more common in grocery stores again, let’s find ways to reuse and recycle them.

Trivia: 

The first paper bag machine was patented by Francis Wolle in 1852. Margaret E. Knight (1838-1914) was an employee in a paper bag factory when she invented a new machine part to make square bottoms for paper bags.

Supplies
  • Regular paper grocery sack
  • Scissors
  • Buttons
  • Rick rack
  • Glue
  • Construction paper
Instructions
  1. To make this Recycled Grocery Bag Vest, cut the grocery sack down the middle from top to bottom and flip inside out.
  2. Cut arm holes in the sides
  3. Decorate the vest with Elmer’s Squeeze Creations, buttons, rick rack and anything else!
