Recycled Milk Jug Pumpkin Candy Holder
Help the kids turn a piece of throw away plastic into a Recycled Milk Jug Pumpkin Candy Holder. You may have to help a little but they can do a lot of it themselves. It is a great way to recycle plastic and decorate for Halloween too. Chances are you will have most of the supplies in your craft box.
Trivia: Scientifically speaking, pumpkins are a fruit (they contain seeds) but when it comes to cooking, they are often referred to as vegetables.
Supplies
Empty Clean Milk Jug
Sandpaper
Orange Paint
Scrap Green Tissue Paper
Green Pipe Cleaner
Green Leaf or Green Construction Paper
Thick Black Marker or Thin Black Tape
Box Cutter (adult Use)
Hole Punch
Instructions
Make sure your paint jug is clean and dry with all of any paper removed.
Lightly sandpaper the milk jug so the paint will adhere to the surface.
Paint with orange paint and let dry.
Draw eyes and mouth and have adult cut out with box cutter. Make sure the mouth is big enough for little hands to reach in for the candy treats.
Outline eyes and mouth with black marker or tape.
Using picture as a reference, cover cap and neck with green tissue paper and secure with green pipe cleaner with the ends curled into stems.
Attach ready made leaf or a leaf that you make by cutting a hole with a hole punch before you curl the end.
