Tissue Paper Jack-O-Lantern Craft
This Tissue Paper Jack-O-Lantern craft is fun for kids of all ages. It can be as intricate or simple as the ability of its creator. Use our pattern or let the kids make up one of their own. This tissue paper jack-o-lantern can be combined with our Tissue Paper Black Cat and Tissue Paper Ghost for a complete Halloween themed bulletin board. There are also some Tissue Paper Fall Leaves to add to the decorations.
Trivia:
The Irish carved turnips on All Hallow’s Eve to ward off evil spirits. Pumpkins were not known in Ireland and became popular when the tradition was brought to the new world. Source: Pumpkin Nook – Jack O’Lanterns and The Tale Of Stringy Jack
Supplies
- Card stock
- Tacky glue
- Tissue paper: black, green, orange and yellow
- Scissors
- Newspaper
- Paper plate
Instructions
- Click on the pattern below and print out the pumpkin we’ve supplied or draw one of your own original creations. Cut out and place on newspaper to protect your surface from stray glue.
- Cut tissue paper into 1 inch squares. No need to be exact, but similar size pieces are a good idea. Crumple into balls.
- Squeeze some glue on the paper plate and dip your tissue paper balls one at a time and place on pattern. I usually start with the smaller areas like the eyes, stem and mouth first because it helps to keep the design.
