Trivia:
The rubber balloons of today were inspired by ancient lanterns used in 220 AD by the Chinese military. They were used to send these lanterns to send important messages to their subordinates. The lanterns had a small opening at the bottom, and the fire was lit to lift the lanterns above. These were considered the first balloons in history. Supplies
- Balloons, the kind you use for making balloon animals
- Scissors
- 1/4 inch flat elastic
Instructions
- Cut elastic large enough for a comfortable bracelet plus enough length to tie off. You can always cut off excess elastic when you are finished.
- Cut the balloons up into small pieces approximately one inch in length. Make sure both ends are open.
- Feed a piece of balloon onto the flat elastic and scrunch down leaving enough room at the end to tie off. Keep adding elastic pieces until the elastic is covered but enough room is left to tie off the bracelet.
- It may take a little patience to open the balloon ends so you can slip the elastic through, but the kids love the end result.
