Fun Fact

Long before modern rubber balloons, people used floating lanterns in ancient China to send signals. These lanterns were lifted by heated air and are often considered an early inspiration for balloon-like objects.

Supplies

  • Balloons, the long kind used for balloon animals
  • Scissors
  • 1/4 inch flat elastic

Instructions

  1. Cut a piece of elastic long enough to fit comfortably around the wrist, leaving extra length for tying.
  2. Cut the balloons into small pieces about 1 inch long. Make sure both ends of each balloon piece are open.
  3. Slide one balloon piece onto the elastic and scrunch it down near the end.
  4. Continue adding balloon pieces until the elastic is covered, leaving enough elastic at both ends to tie the bracelet closed.
  5. Tie the elastic securely, then trim off any extra.
