Breast Cancer Awareness Craft
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this Breast Cancer Awareness Craft is a meaningful way for kids, families, classrooms, and groups to show support. This pretty pink ribbon wall hanging uses ribbon, cord, and beads to create a simple decoration that can be displayed on a door, bulletin board, or fundraiser table.

This craft is also a thoughtful project for awareness events, school service projects, or community fundraising activities.
Trivia
Early detection can make a big difference. According to the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer that is found while still localized has a very high 5-year relative survival rate. The NCI currently lists localized female breast cancer survival at 99.3% on its breast cancer survival page, while the SEER Cancer Stat Facts page lists localized female breast cancer at 100.0% based on SEER 2016–2022 data.
Supplies
- Wide wired pink ribbon
- Pink and white cord
- Pink, white, and silver beads
- Scissors
- Glue gun
- Glue sticks
Instructions
- Cut the wired ribbon to approximately 10 inches long.
- Form the ribbon into a breast cancer awareness loop shape. Use a small amount of hot glue to hold the ribbon in place.
- Cut several pieces of pink and white cord into 12 inch lengths.
- Knot one end of each cord and string six beads onto each strand.
- Knot the other end of each cord so the beads stay in place.
- For a more interesting design, make the strands slightly uneven. You can also add one shorter 5 inch cord with three beads for balance.
- Fold the longer beaded strands in half so three beads hang from each end.
- Hot glue the folded cords to the back of the ribbon so the beaded strands hang down in different lengths.
- Let the glue dry completely before hanging your ribbon decoration.
- Display your finished Breast Cancer Awareness Craft on a door, bulletin board, classroom wall, or fundraiser table to help share a message of hope, support, and early detection.

Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
Use this craft as part of a classroom discussion about kindness, community support, and awareness causes. Students can talk about ways people show support for friends, family members, and neighbors during difficult times.
For a writing activity, have kids write a short message of encouragement to go with their ribbon craft. These can be displayed on a classroom bulletin board titled “Messages of Hope” or shared at a school awareness event.
For a fundraising connection, students can help make several ribbon decorations to sell or give away during a school or community event, with adult supervision for the hot glue step. This turns an easy craft for kids into a meaningful service project.
