Earth Day Recycled Vase
Turn a plain flower vase into a simple Earth Day decoration with this easy recycled craft. This is a fun way to reuse an old glass vase and create a bright reminder to care for our planet. Kids can sponge on the colors to make a globe-inspired design that looks great with fresh flowers, silk flowers, or even displayed on its own.

Supplies
- Old glass vase
- Decoupage solution
- Green food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Sponge
- Small bowls or cups for mixing
Instructions
- Pour 2 tablespoons of decoupage solution into a small bowl. Add 5 drops of green food coloring and stir gently.
- Use a sponge to dab the green mixture onto the vase in rough continent shapes. Do not worry about making them perfect. A simple Earth-inspired look works best.
- In a second bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of decoupage solution with 5 drops of blue food coloring.
- Dab the blue mixture onto the rest of the vase, filling in the background around the green areas.
- Let the vase dry completely before using or displaying it.

Glass can often be reused in crafts instead of being thrown away.
The Earth looks blue from space because most of its surface is covered by water.
Patterns, Templates and Printables
This craft does not require a printable template. Kids can look at a globe or map for inspiration when dabbing on the green continent shapes.

Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
This Earth Day craft works well as a classroom activity when talking about recycling, reusing materials, and caring for the environment. Have kids discuss ways they can help the Earth at home or at school, such as recycling paper, turning off lights, or reusing containers for crafts. Students can also compare their vase design to a map or globe and talk about land and water on Earth.
