Mothers Note Holder
Looking for a sweet handmade gift for Mother’s Day or any time of year? This Mothers Note Holder is a simple sewing or glue craft that gives Mom a special place to keep coupons, notes, reminders, and little messages. It is both decorative and useful, which makes it a fun gift for kids to make for someone they love.

This easy craft for kids can be personalized with different bandanna colors, ribbon styles, and letter designs to match Mom’s favorite look.
Supplies
- Bandanna
- Ribbon
- Felt letters or foam letters
- Craft glue or needle and thread
- Dowel
- String or cord
- Scissors
Instructions
- Fold the bandanna in half. Glue or sew the side edges together to make a hanging holder shape.
- Fold up one narrow end to create a pocket. Turn down the top edge about 1 1/2 inches to form a flap. Glue or sew the sides of the pocket so papers can slide inside.
- Cut the ribbon into 2-inch pieces. Glue the ribbon pieces along the flap and at the opposite narrow end of the bandanna to make loops.
- Cut two long strips of ribbon the same length as the flap. Glue these strips over the ends of the ribbon loops to give the holder a neat finished look.
- Glue the felt or foam letters onto the front to spell out “Mom’s Memos” or another sweet message.
- Slide the dowel through the ribbon loops at the top of the memo holder.
- Cut a piece of string or cord and tie it to both ends of the dowel so the note holder can be hung on a wall or hook.
Tips
- Let kids choose colors and lettering that match Mom’s favorite style.
- This craft can also be made for Grandma, Auntie, or a teacher by changing the words on the front.
- If you want the holder to last longer, sewing the edges instead of gluing will make it sturdier.
Fun Facts
Bandannas have been used for many years as practical and decorative fabric pieces. They come in many colors and patterns and are often used in crafts because they are soft, flexible, and easy to work with.
Handmade gifts are special because they are personal. A useful gift like this note holder can remind Mom every day that it was made with love.

Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
This craft is a fun way to practice basic measuring, folding, and sequencing skills. Children can measure ribbon pieces, count loops, and follow steps in order.
You can also turn this activity into a writing project by having children add a small note, coupon, or kind message to place inside the pocket before giving it as a gift.
