Frog Hand Puppet Craft
This Frog Hand Puppet Craft is a fun and easy project for young kids. It is a great beginner puppet activity that helps build confidence, encourages creativity, and gives children a playful craft they can enjoy long after it is finished. This is a wonderful choice for easy crafts for kids at home, in the classroom, or during homeschool time.

Supplies
- Green pot holder
- 2 large white pom poms
- Tacky glue
- Green and black fun foam scraps
- Scissors
- Optional elastic
Instructions
- Fold the green pot holder in half so it opens and closes like a puppet mouth.
- Glue the two white pom poms near the folded edge to make the frog’s eyes.
- Cut small circles from black fun foam for the pupils and glue them onto the pom poms.
- Cut small nostril shapes from fun foam and glue them onto the front of the puppet.
- Let everything dry completely before playing.
- Slip your hand inside the pot holder and open and close your fingers to make the frog’s mouth move.
- For a more secure fit, an adult can stitch a small piece of elastic inside near the fold to help hold a child’s hand in place.
Fun Facts
Frogs and toads have been around for a very long time. Fossil records show they existed at least 220 million years ago. They are believed to be among the earliest vertebrates to leave the water and live on land.
Patterns, Templates and Printables
This craft does not require a printable template, but children can easily use the same idea to make other animal hand puppets with different colors and foam shapes.
Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
Turn this frog craft into a fun classroom activity by inviting kids to put on a puppet show. They can create frog voices, act out a pond story, or talk about the frog life cycle. This also works well with lessons about wetlands, amphibians, and animal habitats. For a writing extension, have children name their frog puppet and write one or two sentences about where it lives and what it likes to eat.
