Red White and Blue Patriotic Wreath
This Red White and Blue Patriotic Wreath is a cheerful heart-shaped craft kids can make for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Veterans Day, Flag Day, or any patriotic celebration. With cardstock, foam stars, glue, and ribbon, children can create a simple door decoration that shows off classic red, white, and blue colors.

Many of the supplies for this patriotic wreath craft can be found at the dollar store, making it an affordable classroom activity, homeschool project, or family craft for a holiday weekend.
Fun Fact
Some records show that one of the earliest Memorial Day commemorations was organized by formerly enslaved people in Charleston, South Carolina less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered in 1865. In 1966, the federal government declared Waterloo, New York, the official birthplace of Memorial Day.

Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
Use this red, white, and blue wreath craft as part of a lesson about patriotic holidays in the United States. Ask students to name holidays when people display the American flag, such as Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Presidents’ Day.
For a writing activity, have each child write one sentence about what the colors red, white, and blue make them think of. Younger children can dictate their sentence, while older students can write a short paragraph about a patriotic holiday or a person they want to honor.
Finished wreaths can be displayed together on a classroom bulletin board titled “Honoring Our Country” or “Red, White, and Blue Crafts for Kids.”
