Fun Facts

The early beginnings of Vacation Bible School go back to the late 1800s. One of the first known programs started in Hopedale, Illinois, where children gathered for Bible lessons, music, and activities during the summer months.

Patterns, Templates and Printables

Print the VBS Wanted Poster template on tan or light brown construction paper for the best western-style look. Cut and add each child’s photo to complete the craft.

Teacher Friendly Educational Extension

Use this activity as a simple introduction to help children feel seen and welcomed at VBS. After they finish their posters, invite them to share their name and one thing they are excited about learning.

You can also turn this into a writing activity by asking kids to complete a sentence such as “Jesus wants me to share love by…” or “I can show kindness by…”. This makes the craft more meaningful while adding a gentle faith-based lesson.

The finished posters also make a great classroom display for western themed VBS decorations.
